  • For decades, the glamorous east coast of Florida seemed to monopolize the world's attention. Miami and Palm Beach defined the state in the eyes of many, and understandably so, for all those Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, and Kennedys couldn't possibly be wrong, now could they? Perhaps not, but it's a matter of perspective. Native Floridians have long felt, after all, that the best place to appreciate everything their state has to offer is on its southwestern coast near Naples and Fort Myers.
